Are you an inventor, a tinkerer or a fixer? Have you ever pulled something apart to see how it works?
Test Lab is a temporary, pop-up maker space for older children to come and try making all types of things and be inspired by innovations made by others, including local makers and inventors. Drop in for general tinkering in the Shed.
Don't miss your chance for some hands-on making and tinkering!
Please note: children must be accompanied by an adult
We’re excited to be hosting experimental artists Jesse Stevens and Dean Petersen from Cake Industries as Tinkerers in Residence in Test Lab at Scienceworks.
Jesse and Dean enjoy exploring and exposing the inner workings of things. They use mechatronics, robotics, carpentry, 3D printing, and reworked everyday objects to create kooky and surprising works.
At Scienceworks they will be working with the Young Maker Club Melbourne to create all sorts of strange and creative mechanisms. If you’re 12-18 years old and interested in joining the club, see below.
The Young Makers Club Melbourne (YMCM) at Scienceworks is a monthly club for 12-18 year olds. YMCM members build and share together, while developing new skills and making friends with similar interests.
Participants use hand tools, power tools, electronics, mechanics, computers, and any other related items to build and create things in a facilitated group environment. You don’t need any skills or experience to join the club, just a willingness to get involved, learn along the way and work with others in a social facilitated group environment.
